Band contest "Europeana - The Metal Version"

11.03.2012 | 15:22

Submit your metal version of "Europeana", the European "anthem of the hearts", and win a world wide record deal!

In May 2011 the European anthem of the hearts - "Europeana" - was performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra Hagen with standing ovations for the very first time. Since that time the anthem has become more and more popular  all over Europe - especially in its orchestral version. The well-known German music publishing-company "Edition Peters" stated regarding "Europeana": "...the novelty of the hymn is, that the European countries can include their typical instruments in this composition (e.g. castanets/ Spain, accordion/ France, banjo/ Ireland etc.)".

The composer and guitar virtuoso CONNY CONRAD, who has had international success with his English/German rock band DARK OCEAN until its split in 2009, wants to create new versions of the anthem to reach a wider audience.

POWERMETAL.de in cooperation with CONNY CONRAD is searching for interesting Metal versions of  "Europeana". They shall be released on a download album with 7 tracks (at the maximum) by the label "CoCo records international" in cooperation with finetunes.net on all important download platforms world wide! To give you an idea, how a metal version of "Europeana" might sound like, you can listen to a demo-version of CONNY CONRAD (note: please scroll down at the bottom of the website there).

The winners get a label-deal! They also have a share of the profits of the download-marketing of their version of "Europeana"!

All you have to do is to send your sophisticated version of the anthem of the hearts as a MP3-file (at least 256Kbps) to this E-mail: europeana-powermetal[at]gmx.de. Important: The recording needs to be ready for a release! The deadline is 31st August 2012.

A judging panel, consisting of editors of POWERMETAL.de, the label "Coco records international" and CONNY CONRAD, will choose 6 strong interpretations of  "Europeana", which will be released on "Coco records international". Important: All decisions are final and not subject to legal appeal.

Further information, such as a clip of the first performance ever on YouTube and coverage regarding "Europeana" can be found here: www.eu-hymne.de.

CONNY CONRAD and POWERMETAL.de are excited to hear YOUR version of the hymn and your transmittal!
